ART STATEMENT:

I consider myself an experimental artist. A few years ago I had seen a process of taking

Citrasolv (which is an organic cleaner) and applying it to National Geographic magazines. If

you let the pages stay wet for an hour or two, the Citrasolv actually lifts the image from the

pages, moving the ink. I began to work with these new, treated papers, creating collages. First I

cut them into squares, then glue them onto a blank canvas. It is similar to using a grid to draw,

except I am literally using the squares as my grid. I love the depth and uniqueness of each

square, with lots of wonderful little secrets and surprises just waiting to be discovered. You

might even find a QR code that will lead you to a video of the painting actually talking. I have

also used photographs, fabric and even old X-rays in my work. If it can be cut into a 2” inch

square it might wind up on my canvas. I generally use acrylics on top of the squares to create the

image. On occasion I cover the collage with ArtResin. This process, like myself, continues to

evolve. The possibilities are endless!
