The backing of these frames is Masonite (I think). And I had three. And they were exactly 16” wide. The Masonite was 16” x 12” which fit almost perfectly on the back of that canvas. All that good karma from the canvas must’ve paid off. Just as an aside, I love this drill! It’s cordless and so easy to use. I hated asking (& waiting) for my husband to do stuff like this for me. And I am quite capable of learning anything (SO ARE YOU), so I had him show me how to do it. This drill set was actually a present from him. If I were doing it again I would use 1 1/2” screws, that way it’s easier to put the nut on. At the time I was always on the lookout for canvases and thought I would paint over this. However when I brought it home I loved the message so much I hung it on the wall where it had been ever since. One nut goes under, the other over and then the screw goes in. It was a lot of drilling but it went fast. The hardest thing to do was hold the nut with the wrench underneath while turning the screw with the screwdriver. I would imagine there might be a much easier way to do this (& I’m sure my husband would have delighted in telling me) but this is how I did it and it worked out great. I think the whole project took me a few hours.
